VINEYARD
A typical Merlot from the eastern Friuli hills. The altitude makes it full-bodied and highlights its mellow, rich aromas.
DOC FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS:
The wine has an intense ruby red colour and a full, robust and slightly grassy aroma width hints of cherry and raspberry. It has a rich body which refines significantly during maturation bringing out the spicy notes in the bouquet. The flavour is dry, structured and zesty.
VARIETIES USED, WITH PERCENTAGE:
Merlot 100%.
PRODUCTION ZONE AND EXPOSURE:
The vines are located in the town of Prepotto, Province of Udine, at 160 m above sea level with an eastern exposure.
TRAINING SYSTEM:
Dwarf Guyot and Sylvoz.
SOIL TYPE:
Eocene marl rich in potassium and microelements, well-balanced clay and rock fragment content, low organic content.
HARVEST PERIOD:
Late September with manual collection into baskets.
VINIFICATION:
Destemming and pressing of the grapes followed by maceration with daily delestage. The malolactic fermentation is completed in wood.
MATURING AND AGING:
In stainless steel tanks and barriques for two cycles for around 11 months. Further aging in the bottle for a few months before sale.
FOOD PAIRINGS:
This harmonious and complete wine is an excellent partner for a variety of dishes especially cold meats, roasts, grilled meats and rabbit.
