VINEYARD
This variety arrived in Friuli from France over a century ago and here found an ideal habitat to express all its intrinsic elegance and personality.
DOC FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS:
A dry white wine, straw yellow in colour width golden reflections. The bouquet recalls acacia flower, Williams pears and Golden apples. The flavour is well-balanced, rotund and pleasantly sharp.
VARIETIES USED, WITH PERCENTAGE:
Pinot Grigio 100%.
PRODUCTION ZONE AND EXPOSURE:
The vines are located in the town of Prepotto, Province of Udine, at 160 m above sea level with a south eastern exposure.
TRAINING SYSTEM:
Dwarf Sylvoz.
SOIL TYPE:
The vineyard is in Castello di Albana close to the Judrio river in the province of Udine. The soil is filled with rock fragments and minerals brought by the river from the Prealpi Giulie. The yield is 8/10,000 kg per hectare.
HARVEST PERIOD:
Early September by hand into baskets.
VINIFICATION:
Soft pressure of the grape. Cold settled before alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 16-17°C so as to preserve the wine’s refined aromas.
MATURING AND AGING:
Left to rest on the noble lees until the spring following harvest and is then bottled.
FOOD PAIRINGS:
Prosciutto, fresh cheeses, first courses and white meat. Sublime width fish.
